Hydrolyzed collagen is a protein fragment used topically in skincare and haircare as a humectant and film-former. On skin it draws water into the surface and improves the look of smoothness; on hair it deposits a temporary conditioning film along the cuticle. Effective at 0.5% to 5% across creams, masks, and conditioners. Topical collagen does not replenish dermal collagen — molecular weight is far too high to penetrate. No major conflicts.
Topical hydrolyzed collagen is considered safe during pregnancy and lactation per Mother to Baby. It acts only at the surface and produces no systemic absorption.
Structural protein used as a topical humectant and film-forming agent. Supports the appearance of firmness and smooth skin feel in serums and creams.
