In short: we use the absolute minimum, and almost none of it is a cookie. That is why you do not see a banner.
What this policy covers
This policy explains every cookie and every form of browser storage this site uses. Read it alongside our privacy policy.
Cookies and similar technologies
In short: cookies are small files. Local storage and session storage are similar. We only use a couple, and only for things you would expect.
A cookie is a small text file a website saves on your device. Local storage and session storage do the same job in a slightly different way. The ePrivacy rules in the EU treat them all the same.
Why we don't show a cookie banner
In short: we use only strictly necessary storage and cookieless analytics, which European rules say does not need consent.
Under the EU ePrivacy Directive (Article 5(3)), a website only needs to ask for consent before storing things on your device that are not strictly necessary. We do not store advertising IDs. We do not run third-party trackers. The only browser storage we set is what the site needs to work and what you actively choose (for example, the products you save for later). Our analytics tools, Plausible and Vercel Analytics, work without setting any cookies and without identifying you. Showing a banner for storage that is exempt under the law would mislead you about what we actually collect.
What we actually use
In short: a single language preference, a saved-products list you control, and nothing else.
BIOSAR uses these items only:
- NEXT_LOCALE — strictly-necessary cookie. Remembers whether you chose English or Arabic. Lifetime: 1 year.
- biosar.saved — local storage. Holds the products you tap "Save for later" on. Stays in your browser only. Lifetime: until you clear it.
- biosar:contact:* — server-side, hashed IP, never sent to your browser. Rate-limits the contact form to stop spam. Lifetime: 1 hour.
We do not place any third-party advertising or social-media cookies.
Analytics
In short: we count visits without knowing who you are.
Plausible Analytics generates daily aggregate counts without setting cookies and without storing any personal data. Vercel Analytics derives a short-lived hash from your request that is reset every 24 hours and cannot be linked across days or sites. Both respect the Do Not Track signal in your browser.
Controlling cookies
In short: your browser is the steering wheel.
You can clear or block cookies and local storage from your browser settings at any time. Doing so will reset your language preference and your saved-products list.
