Sweet almond oil is a plant-derived emollient pressed from Prunus amygdalus dulcis kernels, used in skincare to soften dry, rough, or compromised skin. It is rich in oleic and linoleic fatty acids plus vitamin E, supporting the lipid layer and reducing transepidermal water loss. Effective at 1% to 100% across cosmetic formulations from light serums to body oils. Pairs broadly with most actives. Caution flag for tree-nut allergy.
Sweet almond oil is generally considered safe for topical use during pregnancy and lactation per Mother to Baby. A small obstetric cohort (Facchinetti et al. 2008, J Maternal Fetal Neonatal Med) noted a possible association with preterm birth at high body-massage volumes; routine cosmetic use is not implicated. Avoid in personal or family tree-nut allergy.
Lightweight carrier oil. Fast-absorbing nourishment suitable for daily body use.
