Rose water is the aqueous distillate of Rosa damascena petals, used in skincare as a mild astringent and surface-soothing toner. Its phenolic constituents — gallic acid, quercetin, kaempferol — contribute mild antioxidant and calming cover. Effective at 5% to 100% in toners, mists, and post-cleanse formulations. Pairs broadly with most actives. No major conflicts.
Topical rose water is considered safe during pregnancy and lactation per Mother to Baby. Cosmetic-grade distillates do not contain the concentrated essential oil fraction that triggers occasional respiratory or contact-allergy concerns.
Aqueous botanical distillate used as a gentle humectant base and for fresh, comforting scent. Common in sensitive and baby formulas.
