Biotin is a water-soluble B-vitamin (vitamin B7) used topically in haircare for scalp products and conditioning treatments. It is a cofactor for carboxylase enzymes that participate in keratin precursor metabolism. Effective at 0.1% to 1% in cosmetic formulations. Topical evidence for hair growth is weaker than oral supplementation in deficient patients; cosmetic claims should stay conservative. No major conflicts.
Topical biotin is considered safe during pregnancy and lactation per Mother to Baby. Biotin is an essential nutrient with no known cosmetic-dose toxicity.
Vitamin B7, a building block the hair fiber relies on. Applied in leave-on hair and scalp formulas, it supports stronger, more resilient-looking strands and a healthier, more vital scalp.
