Calendula is a botanical extract from Calendula officinalis flowers, used in skincare to soothe inflamed, compromised, or post-procedure skin. Its triterpenoid faradiol esters and polysaccharides reduce erythema and support repair of the stratum corneum. Effective at 2% to 10% in barrier creams, after-sun, and infant care. Pairs broadly with most actives. No major conflicts.
Topical calendula is considered acceptable during pregnancy and lactation per Mother to Baby. Oral preparations are not recommended during pregnancy, but cosmetic surface use raises no documented concern.
Botanical with soothing properties, traditionally used on reactive skin. Delivered as oil and extract for complementary comfort and barrier support.
